Verbs used in the Present Simple.



Verbs used in the Present Simple.

There are certain groups of verbs that are usually only used in the Present Simple. (កិរិយាសព្ទក្រុមខ្លះគឺប្រើបានតែក្នុងPresent Simple ប៉ុណ្ណោះ)

1 Verbs of thinking and opinions (ប្រភេទកិរិយាសព្ទដែលបង្ហាញ់ពីការគិត គំនិត)
-believe ជឿ ,think គិត ,understand យល់, suppose ស្មាន,  expect រំលឹង/ប៉ាន់ស្មាន
,agree យល់ព្រម, doubt សង្ស័យ, know ដឹង/ស្គាល់, remember ចង់ចាំ, forget បំភ្លេច , 
mean មានន័យ, imagine ឧបមាថា, realize យល់ដឹង,  deserve សាកសម ,prefer ចូលចិត្ត


Examples 
1 What religion do you believe in? 
2 I believe in Buddhism. 
3 Do you understand what I’m saying? 
4 Do you remember the memories that we created together? 
5 I don’t suppose that you will become rich soon. 
5 I expect that you’ll understand my mind one day. 
6 Does she agree to get married to you? 
7 I don’t doubt you anymore. I really believe you. 
8 Why do you doubt her? She’s an innocent girl. 
9 Do you know the political and economic situation in the Kingdom of Cambodia? 
10 I know his face, but forget his name. 
11 What do you mean? I don’t understand you. 
12 She imagines that she’ll get married to a wealthy man. 
13 Do you realize my mistake? You broke my camera. 
14 She deserves a reward for her efforts. 
15 I prefer walking to cycling. 
16 I prefer walking alone. 
17 My farther prefers to be alone. 
18 She prefers listening to speaking. 
19 He prefers to be alone. 
20 I think that Buddhism usually shows the peaceful path existence to all Cambodian people and helps them in their advancement toward peace, wholesomeness and happiness by avoiding violence, misfortunes and bad deeds. 
2 Verbs of emotions and feeling. (កិរិយាសព្ទបង្ហាញ់ពី ការរំជួលចិត្តឬអារម្មណ៍)

like ចូលចិត្ត, love ស្រឡាញ់, hate ស្អប់, admit សារភាព,care ខ្វល់ខ្វាយ,hope សង្ឃឹម, wish ប្រាថ្នា, want ចង់

Examples 
a) I like black coffee. 
b) I like studying English because it always helps me communicate with foreigners. 
c) She loves listening to music. 
d) The more you hate, the more you love. 
e) My younger sister dislikes going for a walk after dark. 
f) She doesn’t care about what happens to him. 
g) I hope to save up to US $ 10,000. 
h) Being a teacher, I want to all students to have a really good understanding of English. 
i) Brown admits that he was wrong. 
j) I wash that you will have the five gems of Buddhism wishes: longevity, good beauty, good health, great strength, and brightness in order to take care of you forever. 

3 Verbs of the five senses, but when the subject is a person, we often use can. (កិរិយាសព្ទដែលបង្ហាញ់ពីវិញ្ញាណទាំងប្រាំ តែកាលដែលប្រធានគឺជាមនុស្ស ជារឿយៗយើងប្រើកិរិយាសព្ទ Can អបជាមួយ)

look មើល, hear លឺ, taste ភ្លក់, smell ហិត/ស្រង់ក្លិន,feel មានអារម្មណ៏

Examples 
1) The food smells good. 
2) The soup tastes like water. 
3) May I have a look? 
4) Can you see those birds flying? 
5) Can you smell something burning? 
6) I can hear someone crying. 
7) What’s that noise? Can you hear it? 
8) You can’t see anything except for money. 
9) You can’t touch my money in the drawer. 
10) Miss nary can’t see this lecture without glasses. 


4 Verbs of having and being (កិរិយាសព្ទដែលបង្ហាញ់ពី កម្មសិទ្ធិ សភាព)

Belong ជាកម្មសិទ្ធិ, own មាន(ជាកម្មសិទ្ធិ),haveមាន(ជាកម្មសិទ្ធិ), possessមាន(ជាកម្មសិទ្ធិ), contain មាន, cost មានតម្លៃ, seem ហាក់ដូចជា/ទំនងជា, appear លិចឡើង,need ត្រូវការ,depend on ពឹងលើ/ផ្អែកលើ ,weigh មានទម្ងន់, come from មកពី ,resemble ដូច

Examples 
a) This car belongs to me. I have just bought it. 
b) My sister owns a car but rarely drives it. 
c) This house is mine. I own it. 
d) I have four siblings, but she has no siblings. 
e) Be careful. That bottle contains poison. 
f) The top ten billionaires possess property all over the world. 
g) Does he possess the necessary patience and tact to do the job well? 
h) This chair cost $10 each. 
i) How much does it cost? 
j) They seem to know what they are doing. 
k) Miss Helen seems happy for me today. 
l) Usually after I take an aspirin, my headaches disappear. 
m) Miss Mary appears to have many friends in Phnom Penh. 
n) Our lives need to change little by little in order to achieve our goals. 
o) The garden doesn’t need water; it rained last night. 
p) Who does your life depend on? 
q) My life depends on my parents. 
r) How much do you weigh? (= How heavy are you?) 
s) I weigh 65 kilos. 
t) Where does Tony Blair come from? 
u) He comes from England. 
v) She resembles her brother in books.
